Johanna Casting Rumor

       Mia Wasikowska                            Zoe Aggeliki
Mia Wasikowska and Zoe Aggeliki in the running to play Katniss ally Johanna in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.
The character plays an important part in the third and final installment of the series making it an important roleAccording to The Playlist both Wasikowska and Aggeliki are currently being looked at for the role of Johanna. Director Francis Lawrence is reportedly contemplating whether to cast a big name actor or a virtual unknown. With all the rumors surrounding the film's casting I would normally advocate exercising caution but the site was the first to report that Gary Ross wouldn’t be returning for a sequel. Wasikowska has previously been seen in Jane Eyre and The Kids Are All Right while Aggeliki has yet to appear in any feature roles. She does have choice roles in the upcoming Ryan Reynolds film R.I.P.D. and Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters, though.

Johanna is one of the competitors in the 75th Hunger Games and becomes a close confidant of Katniss. She plays an important role in the sequel and in the third and final novel, Mockingjay. She something of a fan favorite amongst readers so the casting of the role is naturally receiving its proper due.

Reportedly Aggeliki is the front-runner at the moment but nothing is final. Production is scheduled to kickoff soon so we should have final confirmation fairly soon. No word yet on the role of Finnick which has seen virtually every young, blonde, Hollywood actor mentioned at some point or another. The Hunger Games: Catching Fire opens on November 22nd, 2013.
